ITE COLLEGE EAST AT SIMEI AVENUE This project is a Technical Education Institution comprising 3 main building blocks namely an Administration Block, a Technology Block and a Business and Sports Block. These blocks surround a central interaction space and are interconnected with bridges at various levels. The project with a GFA of 129,440 m2, is located at Simei Avenue.

Buildable Features
The project adopted a high degree of precast elements with a total of more than 12,000 structural precast units which were prefabricated and erected in 6 months. As a result, the project was able to achieve a high construction productivity with the value-added outcomes of better quality control resulting in higher quality finishes; minimising use of labour resulting in reduction of labour cost; elimination of formworks/staging resulting in cleaner and safer working environment and an earlier commencement of other trades. |

The project also used prefabricated steel for the Central Forum Structure, Link-bridges, Spectator Gallery, Sport Hall Roof and covered link-way roof. This helped to shorten the construction time and create a neater site environment.
Drywall partitions and full height glass were also used extensively in the development to eliminate the labour intensive wet works.

The external envelope of all the three building blocks consisted of curtainwall and aluminium cladding. With a consistent floor-to-floor height, modularity of the unitised curtainwall panels and aluminium cladding was established easily. The choice of the façade system ensured the accuracy of fabrication in the factory and ease of installation on site. Wet works were also minimised in the process. |

The unit cost for this project was $1,014/m2 (of constructed area) which was below the industry average of $1,400 to $1,850/m2 for projects of similar nature. The project was completed in 20 months.
