Workers who are eligible for
registration include locals as well as suitable
longer-staying and experienced foreign workers who have
been working in the construction industry in Singapore.
CoreTrade personnel, through registration, are
recognized for their competence and experience in their
respective trades.
Registration Criteria
There are 2 key criteria that
construction personnel have to meet before they can be
registered as CoreTrade personnel:
- Personnel are skilled.
He must be skilled in his trade, to ensure that
construction works are carried out in a proper
manner, and high quality results are delivered.
A worker’s skills in his trade can be inferred
from the trade skills certification that he has
acquired, and if necessary, verified through a
skills assessment.
- Personnel are experienced.
The more years of experience a worker has in the
construction industry, the more familiar he is
with his trade.
During application, a worker
interested in becoming a CoreTrade personnel will be
assessed based on his skill qualifications and
experience. If necessary, he will also be required to
undergo a skills assessment (for tradesman applicants)/
skills assessment+written test (for foreman applicants)
to verify his competency in his trade. Upon
registration, a registered trade foreman will be
required to attend a bridging course, unless he has
attained a trade diploma in the trade that he is
registered in.
