Structural Plan Approval And Permit To Commence Structural Works

Application For Permit To Carry Out Structural Works

A permit to carry out structural works must be applied jointly by the following parties: 

  1. the person for whom building works are to be carried out, that is, the building owner or developer;

  2. the qualified persons and;

  3. the builder who will carry out the works.

You can apply for a permit together with your application for approval of structural plans or after obtaining the plan approval. As a guide, the time taken by the Commissioner of Building Control to respond to applications for Permit to carry out structural works is as shown in Appendix A

A complete set of application for a permit comprises the following documents:

  1. Application Form BCA-BE-Permit (BEV/B1) which has to be completed by the building owner / developer, qualified person (for structural and architectural works), builder and site supervisor;

  2. The relevant appendices to form BCA-BE-Permit (BEV/B1);

  3. If the qualified site supervisor appointed by the qualified person for structural works has not been accepted by the Commissioner of Building Control previously, an application Form BCA-BE-COWAQS01(BEV/B3_COW) or Form BCA-BE-REAQS01(BEV/B3_RE), depending on whether the site supervisor is a clerk-of-work or resident engineer respectively, has to be completed by the site supervisor and the qualified person. On the other hand, if the qualified site supervisor has been accepted before, a copy of the Letter of Acceptance could be attached.
