Certified Green Mark Professional (GMP) Programme

The Certified Green Mark Professional Programme is a training and recognition scheme introduced by BCA to raise industry capability in the niche area of Sustainable Design and Development. Designed as a voluntary career upgrading programme for building professionals, the scheme recognises individuals with the relevant competencies in green building design and practices.  Candidates seeking accreditation as Certified Green Mark Professionals with BCA would need to complete the Certification Course for GMP besides meeting other pre-requisites (please see eligibility for GMP Certification below). The GMP course is offered as a series of short modules, focused on design concepts, practical green solutions & technologies and the use of building simulation tools to predict building performance. The scheme envisions a GMP as:

A competent professional who possesses the knowledge and skills needed to carry out detailed design, prediction and enhancement of building performance for Green Mark certification and implementation.

INDOOR AIR QUALITY SOLUTIONS

FOR SUSTAINABLE BUILDINGS

Objectives

Good indoor air quality (IAQ) is a key aspect of sustainable design. The Green Mark for Buildings Scheme by BCA includes Indoor Environment Quality embracing IAQ as one of the key criteria in the assessment score to encourage healthier and less polluting practices in the built environment.

This course will enhance your understanding of the fundamentals of IAQ.  You will be able to identify the two major indoor contaminants - chemical and microbiological contaminants. Describe their sources and health hazards and take appropriate remediation measures. Conduct IAQ investigation and take measurements of common indoor contaminants.  You will gain practical insights on specific IAQ problems and solutions from real case study examples.

Ms Lee is the Divisional Director of the Biological and Chemical Technology Division in SETSCO. The organisation provides assessment and consultancy services in the fields of science and engineering through testing, inspection, applied research and the application of technology for companies from the USA, UK, UAE, China, Sri Lanka, Mauritius and Australia. Ms Lee is a certified IPEA (Institute of Professional Environmental Practice, USA) Qualified Environmental Professional and has been involved in numerous SBS and IAQ investigations in buildings ranging from medical facilities to commercial and residential buildings, factories and public transport facilities.

Chow Neng graduated from University of Arizon State University in Mechanical Engineering and has been in the HVAC and related industries for more than 10 years. As the Business Development and Operation Manager, he is deeply involved in identifying potential areas in energy saving within buildings in various industry and countries in Southeast Asia, conducting preliminary study through spot measurement, comprehensive data acquisition through instrumentation logging, air-conditioning load profile/operation, electrical bill analysis and estimation in return on investment. He is an Accredited Key Qualified Personnel by Energy Sustainability Unit of NUS.
