Diploma in Building Information Engineering
(3-year Full-time _Local Students)
Enrolnment is open now for Oct 2010 Intake
INTRODUCTION
With the global drive towards a sustainable built environment, more and more buildings are equipped with advanced green systems and technologies which are tightly integrated to ensure the buildings and their services are operated at optimal efficiency. In particular, info-comm. technologies (ICT) play a key role to support the design, operation and maintenance of such green and sustainable buildings.
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is one of such ICT. The abilities of BIM systems to perform simulation of energy consumption will generate accurate results for analysis, comparison and baseline for continual improvement. Advanced control systems and automation of building services are two other crucial components in building design, operation and management that rely entirely on ICT to ensure more effective and efficient use of resources by buildings..
IT professionals who have domain knowledge of the building industry will be in the unique position to appreciate the needs of the building industry and to deliver effective solutions. This Diploma in Building Information Engineering will equip students with the fundamentals of information engineering, digital media and domain knowledge of the building industry. Graduates of this programme will be able to leverage on their IT knowledge to support the development of environmentally sustainable buildings, create collaborative project environment and use digital media to enhance business services. Besides being technologically competent, students will also be equipped with effective communication and management skills.
Upon graduation, graduates of this diploma can look forward to rewarding occupations like Building Automation Specialists, BIM Manager, IT Manager, System Administrator, Software Engineer and Info-com Product Consultant.
