Test Case – To calculate ETTV of the test model

 

 

Instructions:

 

Please note Revit software is required to run the Test case.

 

1.       Open the attached file, TESTCASE.rvt (http://www.bca.gov.sg/helios/testcase.rvt)

 

2.       The file is already preloaded with a simple apartment model and the material library compatible with Helios.

 

3.       A few rounds of preliminary testing could be done with the tool:

 

a.       Calculate ETTV of the test model:

i) Click on Tools ---- External tools ----- Calculate ETTV.

ii) The tool gives you the W/m2 heat gain through the facades in the different orientations (Four cardinal and four sub-cardinal directions included)

iii) Click Ok and the tool returns you the final project ETTV value in W/m2.

 

b.      Change the orientation of the building and study the impact:

i) Go to the plan view of the building and select the image

ii) Rotate the entire plan by 90 deg clockwise or anticlockwise

iii) Repeat Step a and find the impact on ETTV values.

 

c.       Change the Window-to-Wall ratio:

i) Click on the east/west facade and remove the windows on the facade by selecting them and deleting the same.

ii) Repeat Step a and study the impact.

 

d.      Change thermal properties of building materials:

i) Select the edit materials properties from the tools tab.

ii) Change the U-value of the wall/SC of glass of the window

iii) Repeat step a and study the impact.
