The Diploma Scholarship / Sponsorship is a partnership between BCA and industry players to offer young people of high calibre an opportunity to take up full-time built environment courses at local Polytechnics and the BCA Academy.

The Diploma Scholarship / Sponsorship are structured in two stages.

• Stage 1 (Diploma Study Phase) provides financial incentives to students during their diploma study.

Stage 1 - Diploma Study

• Stage 2 (Post Diploma Development Phase) provides a clear progression path and attractive salary for the student to join the building and construction sector upon his/her graduation. Existing diploma graduates (with less than 3 years experience in building & construction sector) may also apply to join Stage 2.

Who is it for?

Industry firms which are keen to sponsor:

• Polytechnics or BCA Academy students in the following built environment diploma courses:

• Diploma graduates who could be new recruits or the firms’ existing employees (with less than 3 years of working experience in building & construction sector) for direct entry into Stage 2.

The list of part-time upgrading courses for Stage 2  is shown below:

How much?

Stage 1 – Diploma Study Phase:

• The Diploma Scholarship award covers the full course fee and a monthly allowance of $900 per month per scholarship. A participating firm will pay $4,000 per year per scholarship, while BCA will contribute the rest of the scholarship sum.

• The Diploma Sponsorship award covers an annual sum of $7,000 per year per sponsorship. A participating firm will pay $2,000 / $5,000 per year per sponsorship, while BCA will contribute the rest of the sponsorship sum.

Stage 2 – Post Diploma Development Phase:

• Firms will need to commit to a minimum monthly starting pay of $2,000 to local graduate and raise the minimum monthly pay to $2,250 on the second year.

• BCA will extend an Upgrading Incentive to the local employee of up to $3,000 lump sum on a 6-monthly interval for the first year and up to $1,500 on the second year.

• The sponsoring firm will provide the employee with a structured On-Job-Training and an upgrading opportunity through part-time specialist or advanced diploma, to deepen their knowledge in specific areas.
