FAQ on existing advertising sign / signboard licence

  1. How do I renew and pay for my sign licence?
  2. For renewal duration that is less than 1 year, please send an email to bca_enquiry@bca.gov.sg with the following document for our consideration of your renewal request:

    • Consent letter from the building owner and/or landowner, Management Corporation, HDB and Town Council, where applicable, on the continual display of the sign
    • Declaration letter that the sign on display remain unchanged

    The licensee has to send in the renewal request personally. Alternatively, the licensee can authorise a representative to send in the request, with the licensee's authorisation letter.

    Upon approval, you can make payment via the online Advertisement Licensing System (ALS) by the stipulated payment due date.

    For cheque payment, it shall be made payable to "Building and Construction Authority". Please write your name, contact number and licence number on the reverse side of your cheque and mail it to BCA"s office at 52 Jurong Gateway Road #11-01, Singapore 608550.

    For auto-renewal of your licences annually, Giro payment is compulsory. Otherwise, your licence will not be automatically renewed the following year and fresh application has to be made to obtain a new licence. The Giro application form can be downloaded here. Please post the completed original copy of the Giro application form to BCA within 1 month from the issuance of the licence. The Giro deduction will only take place in the next renewal period after bank"s approval. You will be notified via post on your Giro application status.

  3. How do I cancel my sign licence?
  4. Please register an Advertisement Licensing System (ALS) account and submit the licence cancellation request via the online system.

  5. How do I update my particulars?
  6. Please send an email to bca_enquiry@bca.gov.sg with the updated particulars of the licensee and the licence number.

    The licensee has to send in the request personally. Alternatively, the licensee can authorise a representative to send in the request, with the licensee"s authorisation letter.

  7. Can I retain the sign licence when there is change of licensee?
  8. Ownership of the licence is not transferable. It is mandatory to submit a new consultation with the required documents and drawings via Advertisement Licensing System (ALS) to obtain a new licence.

  9. How can I retrieve my past licence records or drawings submitted?
  10. Please register an Advertisement Licensing System (ALS) account and submit the search and copy request for the licence copy or drawings via the online system.

    There is a chargeable fee of $20.00 for each search. Some drawings/ information may not be available in our database. The search fee is not refundable, even if the search is not successful. Only the licensee or the authorised representative can make the request to BCA to search for the licence/ drawings.

    To retrieve the search result, there is a chargeable fee of $5.00 and $25.00 for each licence copy and each set of drawings respectively.

    Cheque payment is not accepted for search and copy payment.
