CERTIFIED GREEN MARK MANAGER/ GREEN MARK PROFESSIONAL
About The Scheme
The Certified Green Mark Manager (GMM), Green Mark Professional (GMP), Green Mark Facilities Manager (GMFM) and Green Mark Facilities Professional (GMFP) Specialist Scheme is to accord recognition to professionals who have attained a good foundation and knowledge and has the professional knowledge and ability to give advice in the design and operation of environmentally-friendly buildings.
The scheme envisions a GMM as:
A competent professional or technical individual who possess the knowledge and skills to participate in the design process, encourage an integrated design and facilitate the Green Mark Certification.
The scheme envisions a GMP as:
A competent professional who possesses the knowledge and skills capable of carrying out detailed design, prediction and enhancement of building performance for Green Mark certification and implementation
The scheme envisions a Certified GMFM as:
A competent professional or technical individual who possesses the requisite knowledge and skills that would enable him to operate the buildings in a sustainable way and to undertake sustainable improvement measures to reduce the building's environmental impact over its functional life cycle.
The scheme envisions a Certified GMFP as:
A competent professional who possesses the requisite knowledge and skills capable of carrying out detailed evaluation of energy efficiency retrofit and optimisation works on existing buildings and to manage and enhance the building performance to reduce the building's environmental impact over its life cycle.
Certification Requirements for Certified GMM, GMP, GMFM and GMFP (with effect from 20 Nov 2014)

* The Green Mark project assessment should be completed within 3 years from point of Certified GMM / GMP / GMFM / GMFP application.(Note: Completion means that the Letter of Award, stating the Green Mark rating for the project, has already been awarded by BCA. It does not mean the physical completion of the project).
~ Where the date of successful completion of the Certification Course for GMM / GMP is more than 2 years from point of Certified GMM / GMP or renewal application of Certified GMP, the application must be accompanied by a GM Refresher Course / GM Refresher Training Certificate.
Processing Time of Application
Approximately 2 months, if all documents submitted are complete and in order. BCA will inform you the status of the application when it has been processed.
Recognition of GMM / GMP / GMFM / GMFP
To encourage recognition and involvement of these green professionals, projects with one principal member that is a Certified GMM/ GMP/ GMFM / GMFP can earn Green Mark points if they are an active member in the project team. Please refer to the respective Green Mark criteria for the scoring methodology.
Certified GMM / GMFM are granted lifetime validity of certification.
Certified GMP / GMFP certification is valid for 3 years upon approval of application and to be renewed at 3 yearly intervals prior to its expiry. This ensures continual high standards of professional competency and in keeping abreast of Green Mark advancement.
For Certified GMP renewal, the applicant is required to complete (within 3 years) at the point of renewal of application (Note: Completion means that the Letter of Award, stating the Green Mark rating for the project, has already been awarded by BCA. It does not mean the physical completion of the project):
- Two Green Mark Gold PLUS or above new building projects or
- One Green Mark Gold PLUS or above new building project + 30 hours of green-related training
For Certified GMFP renewal, the applicant is required to complete (within 3 years) at the point of renewal of application the following:
- Two Green Mark Gold or above existing building projects or
- One Green Mark Gold or above existing building project + 30 hours of green-related training.
Please note that you are not allowed to use the same projects used previously to support your Certified GMP application. Attendance at green-related trainings are to be backed up by certificate of attendance showing dates/ number of hours of courses and brief course content.
You are required to submit a fresh application for Certified GMP/GMFP renewal. The same application form for new applications is to be used.
The above serves as guidelines for attaining credits during the 3-year validity of the Certified GMP / GMFP certification. Applicants will be evaluated and assessed by a panel and the decision in the award and renewal of the Certified GMP / GMFP certification is final. BCA is not obliged or bound to give any reason whatsoever for not awarding or renewing the certification.
Certified GMM / GMP/ GMFM / GMFP are required to attend a half-day refresher course every two years to ensure that they remain relevant and up-to-date with the latest Green Mark criteria and requirements. A Certificate of Attendance will be issued upon completion of the refresher course. Certified GMM / GMP/ GMFM claiming Green Mark points for projects are to submit a valid Certified GMM or GMFM or GMP certificate along with the Refresher course certificate (valid for 2 years) during Green Mark assessments. Hence, it is compulsory to attend refresher training every 2 years to eligible to claim Green Mark points for projects.
The responsibility is on the certified professionals to sign up for the refresher course. Please contact BCA Academy for timely registration for the Refresher course.
