How established are BCA Academy programmes?
BCA Academy has been running a wide range of full-time and part-time training programmes for workers, supervisors and managers to meet the manpower needs of the construction industry since 1980s. BCA Academy’s programmes are recognised by various government agencies.
How do I choose a course that will suit me?
BCA Academy provides a range of courses suitable for management, professional, technical, supervision personnel, workers as well as fresh school leavers. Depending on your preference or job requirements, you will need to consider what you would like to do.

What is the SEC(K)?
Construction 21 (or 'C21') was launched on 20 October 1999. As part of the efforts in raising the skills level among the workers, there is a need for the construction workforce to become knowledge-based. The Skills Evaluation Certificate (SEC) has incorporated the written test component in addition to the practical skill test. The certificate was named as Skills Evaluation Certificate (K).
Can those who are not in the construction industry apply for trade tests?
Yes. However, only those who hold a valid 'Construction' work permit and pass the SEC/SEC(K) test are eligible for 'Construction' work permit.
What is the medium of instruction for training courses?
Our courses are conducted in English. However, safety-related courses such as Building Construction Supervsiors Safety Course, Supervision of Metal Scaffold Erection, Metal Scaffold Erection, Explosive Powered Tools and Retrofitting Orientation for workers are conducted in Mandarin, with Thai for the last two as well. Construction Safety Orientation Course are conducted in English, Mandarin, Malay, Tamil, Thai, Myanmar and Bengali languages

What are the languages available for the Skills Evaluation Certificate SEC(K) trade tests?
The Skills Evaluation Certificate SEC[K] is available in English or Mandarin only; with some SEC(K) tests available in Thai and Tamil as well.
Which certificates are recognised by MOM for foreign workers' lower levy?
Skills Evaluation Certificate (K) issued under the Trade Test Programme is recognised by MOM as basic skills certification for applying foreign workers’ work permit in the construction sector.

Who can apply for BCA Academy's courses and trade tests?
The BCA Academy's courses are open to all applicants. The skills certification trade tests are also open to all applicants who are from approved source countries and where there are no overseas test centres.
Application Procedure
How do I apply for courses or trade tests?
Applicant may send the completed course or test application form together with photocopies of all relevant documents and cheque payment to BCA Academy or Manpower Development Department respectively at No. 200 Braddell Road Singapore 579700.
Which are the days my company can send the foreign workers for Identity Verification?
Identity Verification of foreign workers is carried out on all working days except for Saturdays.
How can I know the status of my application?
You can view the status of your application at Application Status
Payment of Fees
Must payment of fee be made upon application?
Yes, payment of fees must be made upon application for BCA Academy’s programmes.
Can the fees be paid by instalments?
Full payment of fees shall be made upon application.
What modes of payment are available?
The payment of fees can be made through GIRO, credit card, NETS or cash card.
Students' Concern
Are there any examinations/assessments during the course?
Yes, there will be examinations/assessments for most of BCA Academy programmes. More details can be viewed in the respective course programmes.
What is the attendance criteria for me to be eligible for the examination at the end of the course?
A participant must attain at least 75% of physical attendance in all the subjects to be eligible to take the examination at the end of the course.
If I have already been notified about the acceptance of my application and the date of my course/test, will I be able to withdraw from it? Will there be any penalties?
Yes but there may be a penalty. Please refer to the respective programmes for the Replacement, Withdrawal, Deferment, Postponement or Programme Switching guidelines.
Is there any expiry date for the Skills Evaluation Certificate (SEC/SEC[K])?
No, there is no expiry date for the Skills Evaluation Certificate (SEC/SEC[K]).
Will I be refunded the course/test fee if my application is unsuccessful?
Yes, the course/test fee will be refunded if your application is unsuccessful.
When will I know my test results?
The test results will be released within ten days after the test date.
How will I be informed about my course/test results?
BCA Academy will mail the course/test results to the correspondent address stated in the application form. Results for locally conducted Skills Certificate (SEC/SEC[K]) trade tests will be released 10 working days after the test on the Internet. You may also logon to Exam & Test Results
Subsidies & Grants
Will I be entitled to SDF grants?
Only company-sponsored applicants who are Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Residents may apply for SDF using the SDF EasyNet. However, the application will be subjected to SDF's requirements and consideration, on a case-by-case basis.

What is SRP?
The Skills Redevelopment Programme (SRP) aims to enhance the employability of the less educated or unskilled Singaporean workers, by equipping them with relevant skills to meet the standards required of them in the 21st century. SRP has 2 funding components namely the course fee subsidies provided by SDF and absentee payroll provided by WDA.
